Meet the Spartans is a 2008 parody produced and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. Similar to past movies, such as Scary Movie, along with it's spinoffs Epic Movie and Date Movie, it pokes fun at various movies in a satirical fashion. Although it references many movies, TV shows, people and pop cultural events, it focuses mainly on the movie 300.

but i must say, this movie is much better than epic movie (cuz that was VERY disappointing). meet the spartans got a few laughs from me so it wasnt a horrible movie or anything, but its probably one that you might want to watch on a dvd; unless you just want a silly movie, in which case, go for it. :)

On waking, I reach for my blackberry. It tells me what city I'm in; the hotel rooms offer no clues. Every Courtyard by Marriott is interchangeable. Many doors into the same house. From the size of my suitcase, I can recall the length of my stay: one or two days, the small bag. Three or four, the large. Two bags means more than a week.
CNBC, shower, coffee, email. Quick breakfast, $10.95 (except in California, where it's $12.95. Another clue.)
Getting there is the worst part. Flying is an endless accumulation of indignities. Airlines learned their human factors from hospitals. I've adapted my routine to minimize hassles.
Park in the same level of the same ramp. Check in at the less-used kiosks in the transit level. Check my bag so I don't have to fuck around with the overhead bins. I'd rather dawdle at the carousel than drag the thing around the terminal anyway.
Always the frequent flyer line at the security checkpoint. Sometimes there's an airline person at the entrance of that line to check my boarding pass, sometimes not. An irritation. I'd rather it was always, or never. Sometimes means I don't know if I need my boarding pass out or not.
Same words to the TSA agent. Standard responses. "Doing fine," whether I am or not. Same belt. It's gone through the metal detector every time. I don't need to take it off.
Only... today, something is different. Instead of my bags trundling through the x-ray machine, she stops the belt. Calls over another agent, a palaver. Another agent flocks to the screen. A gabble, a conference, some consternation.
They pull my laptop, my new laptop making its first trip with me, out of the flow of bags. One takes me aside to a partitioned cubicle. Another of the endless supply of TSA agents takes the rest of my bags to a different cubicle. No yellow brick road here, just a pair of yellow painted feet on the floor, and my flight is boarding. I am made to understand that I should stand and wait. My laptop is on the table in front of me, just beyond reach, like I am waiting to collect my personal effects after being paroled.
I'm standing, watching my laptop on the table, listening to security clucking just behind me. "There's no drive," one says. "And no ports on the back. It has a couple of lines where the drive should be," she continues.
A younger agent, joins the crew. I must now be occupying ten, perhaps twenty, percent of the security force. At this checkpoint anyway. There are three score more at the other five checkpoints. The new arrival looks at the printouts from x-ray, looks at my laptop sitting small and alone. He tells the others that it is a real laptop, not a "device". That it has a solid-state drive instead of a hard disc. They don't know what he means. He tries again, "Instead of a spinning disc, it keeps everything in flash memory." Still no good. "Like the memory card in a digital camera." He points to the x-ray, "Here. That's what it uses instead of a hard drive."
The senior agent hasn't been trained for technological change. New products on the market? They haven't been TSA approved. Probably shouldn't be permitted. He requires me to open the "device" and run a program. I do, and despite his inclination, the lead agent decides to release me and my troublesome laptop. My flight is long gone now, so I head for the service center to get rebooked.
Behind me, I hear the younger agent, perhaps not realizing that even the TSA must obey TSA rules, repeating himself.
"It's a MacBook Air."

wow...less than one week of holidays until uni starts again.. some of you will have already started, whilst others are in the same position as me. dont you think that the past 3 months have just flown by? summer is coming to an end, and with it goes our holidays. bye bye my beloved summer... *sigh* hello work..

im doing a ~~spring~~ autumn clean right now. my nose is so annoying right now! there's dust everywhere so im constantly sneezing..its like hayfever, but its kinda the wrong season right now >.<" lots of things to pack for college, lots of old things to throw out. parting with some good keepsakes, but i dont want to keep them forever or my room will be FULL of junk.

*aaCHOOoo* stupid fluff..

just taking these last few days to relax before a very busy semester. i cant wait til mid-year break, or easter break for that matter. im overloading so if when i become very antisocial, you will know why and i apologise in advance.

hopefully this year will be just as awesome as the last. im thinking i really have to enjoy these years at uni, cuz time is flying by faster than high school..and that was pretty insanely fast. gota enjoy these years before reality hits and we gota work a 9 to 5 job..

remember to have fun guys!!! give me a call when you need a break, cuz i'll definately be needing one.. >.<" stupid timetable...

hey guys, i know its been ages since i last posted..just wanted to let you know that im still alive and not to worry :P hehe
lets see...what has been happening since the last time i updated...

i learnt how to use a cappacinno machine! so now i can make babycinnos :) haha..i love that stuff..but more importantly (and the whole point of the course), i can make coffee. *yay* now im gona be addicted to caffine >.<" boo..its ok, i will survive.

i saw american gangster, juno and jumper. all are quite good movies. the one that stands out most is definately american gangster. such a fantastic film. i love denzel washington!!! he's so awesome. juno was a very light hearted comedy. and jumper was well...alright. mayb a movie that you would see on dvd or something. not too bad, but not fantastic.

i got to drive over the harbour bridge for the first time too. that was so cool!!! so iconic...hehe..very exciting. :)
omg which reminds me, i was on the bus on a saturday night at 12.30 am..(dont worry, very safe since the bus was packed) i was going into the city from the northern beaches and its normally a 1.5 hr trip but this bus took a lil longer cuz there was a massive traffic jam on the harbour bridge...AT TWELVE THIRTY IN THE MORNING! AHH! thats so insane! there are so many cars! and it took me 45 mins to get into the city today during peak hour. it normally takes 15 mins... it took me 10 mins to move 2 blocks! ahh! i just made it on time tho :) im so good..hehe

also ktv for first time in sydney, but was having major problems navigating the menu cuz it was in korean >.<" note for next time: take korean friend :P haha...no no, it was just cuz my friend took me there cuz they had a special going on or something. hehe.

i walked 7 kms cuz i thought it would be "fun".. it was actually quite relaxing. there's this 'bay run' around where i like. (lol, i did NOT run it...but some ppl do) it goes around this river and over a bridge or three and stuff. must think about doing that when i ever feel the need to exercise :P

i also did my 'resposible service of alcohol' and 'responsible conduct of gambling' (rsa and rcg) which means that im legally able to work in bars/lisenced restaurants/clubs. which will be good when i start looking for work. but thats going to be really hard cuz i have to overload in uni so im goingto have no life. so with the very little timethat i have left, i think id rather relax then tire myself out. need to keep my energy levels up :) i dont know what i non-energetic/depressed dee would look like but i certainly dont want to find out :)

anyways, thats me for now...

omg what on earth is the world becoming to?..

i was just surfing the internet and came across a new invention. this invention will probably kill a few brain cells (the few that society have left). i just cant believe someone was 'smart' enough to invent it!!

bring out the cheeseburger in a CAN.

yes, there you have it. i dont know whether to laugh or cry! as if the original greasy cheeseburger wasnt bad enough. now you can slowly kill yourself with a canned cheeseburger?

you're too lazy to walk down a block to the fast food outlet, which is at MOST 100m away from you? nice hot cheeseburger, compared to a tin shapped cheeseburger??

and of course you have to keep in mind of the fact that the actual cheeseburger in the can will look nothing like the picture above. i reckon it'll be the smallest thing ever and cost like double the price of a maccas or hungry jacks/burger king one.

wow those weeks in perth went SO quickly...and now im back in sydney.
then it just HIT me..

i just figured out that i may not go back for quite a while this time round. it might be a while til i can see the sun set over the beach. or take woofy to the beach. see my school friends. see my ~~not school~~ perth friends. go to the deen :P or have to put up with scorching hot perth weather for that matter :) hehe.

i miss that place already. ive spent more than half my life there. ive had so many awesome memories in that place. i guess what im coming to terms with now is that life goes on, even when sometimes you dont want it to. sometimes i do wish that time could stand still, but then i wouldnt have had awesome memories in sydney too.

but ive got heaps to look forward to this year. more girls in my classes!! (just to clarify i still like the opposite sex..its just im getter over being the only girl in class) seeing sydney friends again. seeing college friends. seeing boyfriend. find a job. have a good chinatown...(no offence to northbridge) im going to learn manderin..hopefully.. and no, it doest include watching more taiwanese dramas. weee...

anyways, i shall leave it at that. internet credit going low so tata for now

10. Get the local time anywhere
What time is it in Bangkok right now? Ask Google. Enter simply what time is it to get the local time in big cities around the world, or add the locale at the end of your query, like what time is it hong kong to get the local time there.

9. Track flight status
Enter the airline and flight number into the Google search box and get back the arrival and departure times right inside Google's search results.

8. Convert currency and some other stuff too
Google's powerful built-in converter calculator can help you out whether you're cooking dinner, traveling abroad, or building a PC. Find out how many teaspoons are in a quarter cup (quarter cup in teaspoons) or how many seconds there are in a year (seconds in a year) or how many euros there are to five dollars (5 USD in Euro). Spanish rusty and you forgot what "corazon" is? Pop your term into Google Image Search (or type image jicama into the regular search box) to see what your term's about.

1. Make Google recognize faces
If you're doing an image search for Paris Hilton and don't want any of the French city, a special URL parameter in Google's Image search will do the trick. Add &imgtype=face to the end of your image search to just get images of faces, without any inanimate objects. Try it out with a search for rose (which returns many photos of flowers) versus rose with the face parameter.

i dont actually know if all of these work or not, but it's worth a shot. :)

hey guys...its the beginning of another year. isnt that incredible how quickly time goes by? its kinda scary actually.

firstly, just wanted to wish everyone a FANTASTIC NEW YEAR!! hope all goes well :)

..it's summer time and hence i have plenty of time to evaluate how 2007 went and what changes i want to make in my life for the new year..and so a few new years resolutions have been made. (by a few i mean eight. i think 8 is a fitting number since it's 2008 lol) anyways, here's what i came up with...

exercise everyday / stay fit
dont leave things til the last minute
no limited all-nighters
eat healthly
dont eat so much
learn a language
study hard
save money

good luck to everyone with resolutions :) i hope that they'll last for quite some time (well..at least til the end of the month =P hehe)

i cant believe how quickly the years are going by.. im getting older by the day, but i dont feel like im getting more mature of smarter..and im certainly not growning anymore (well, not vertically anyways). i'm definately learning lots still which i guess is a good sign that im at least growing mentally..

speaking of growing and learning, i remember something that i read when i first came to australia..

back to where it all started...

back to taiwan! :) i havent been here in ages and lots have changed..
but the food is so incredibly cheap here! i cant believe how cheap it is!! you can feed dinner to a family of three for like $15...and im quite full afterwards too! omg omg omg!

everythings so cheap..im not sure if its because of the exchange rate but at this rate, if i thought i was going ot be fat after hong kong..then im going to be massively obese after taiwan. which makes me very very happy now, but not so happy when i have to exercise it off. bummer..

and the stationary here is so cute and so incredibly cheap too!!
i dunno why i dont come here more often! lol..

omg i just remembered.. today and the supermarket, there was a lady that couldnt reach somthing on the top shelf, so she asked me (in manderine) to get her the bottle of tea at the back of the top shelf :) *yay* i feel very tall ..and that's pretty rare cuz im normally the one that has to get other people to reach stuff for me! i think the top shelf in taiwan is much shorter than the top shelf in australia..just to cater for a nation of 'vertically challenged' people...but i think that taiwan people are a little taller than hong kong people >.<"
i tried some clothes on while i was here, and well lets just say that it didnt do wonders for my self esteem. the sizes are mini!! im like a large..grr. but at least when there are shoe sales, there are mostly large sizes left anyway.

i went on the fastest elevator in the world..its in taipei 101. i think roughly 60 km/h. and its one of the tallest buildings in the world..tallest i thnk, though im not entirely sure.that was pretty cool. i visited (walked past) my old kindergarten too..that was pretty cool. i remember lil bits of it but not much.

I'M STILL ALIVE!!! hehe..i just havent had internet in a very very long time...amazing, i know! :P
ive been in hong kong and well, it kinda costs money for internet so ive been stingy, so this update is going to be short..and im not sure when the next one is going to be..
but anyways, omg omg omg! *yay* im very happy to be in hong kong. there's so much good food! i reckon the next time you guys see me, you wont recognise me cuz im going to be just a massive ball. you'll have to roll me around the place. at least you can play soccer will me or something like that. there are just food places everywhere!!! its just non stop eating..keke..
breakfast-snack-morning tea-snack-lunch-afternoon tea-snack-dinner-snack-supper-sleep -breakfast again :P hehe
and omg the shops here are so cheap!! *yay* so much cheaper than aussie. hong kong is definately a destination if you love food and shopping :P ..but dont mind people of course. i dont think these people know anything about ones' "personal bubble." lol...its ok, im sure ive invaded someone's personal bubble too.

dubbo ooz

went to the ooz yesterday (hehe..zoo). went all the way to the 'western plains ooz' in dubbo. its like the huge-est most massivest ooz ever!!! like you can hire golf buggies to drive around or hire bikes and stuff. most people just ride around or drive around in their cars and stuff.
its so huge! it took about 3 hours of walking just to get half way around..ben and i kinda said that we'd walk half way and drive half the way..but i seriously didnt think that it was that big..
and i was wearing long pants on a 30 degree day >.<" lets just say that it was cooler in orange.
but im not complaining..much..cuz it was awesome!
i dont have photos cuz im not using my computer so i'll update them laterz..

the otters ('others') were so cute! we got to them just as it was feeding time and took lots of cute photos, which you cant see til later. there was a school excursion there too and so when the feeder person was giving a talk/feeding the others, there was question time at the end. so when one of the little kids asked how to tell the difference between boy and girl others the feeder replied "if you look at its belly," [at which point ben thought that she might be referring to a strip or something on its tummy], the feeder continued "they're a bit different between their hind legs." lol..silly kids...

and when we were a little "lost" we saw the most helpful signpost in the whole wide world...NOT..
it was just a big stick on the ground cuz the signs were ripped off..hmm..but at least we found our way out.

if anyone gets a chance to go to dubbo (there's not much else in dubbo tho) you definately have to go to the western plains ooz :)

i short update from orange..
hehe..omg i cant say how good it is to be in a house with a kitchen :) *yay* ..very happy..
none of this mass produced college food..real home cooked kitchen food! yay.
i'm trying this "cooking" business and well so far banana bread, congee, rice pudding and lots of other wonderful things have been made and consumed..keke..and no i didnt burn it..it was yummy!!
its just been a very relaxing few days.
came down with a bug for a few days which sucked but omg guess what? i can swollow pills now! hehe..none of this drosy liquid medicines :P ..im proud of me anyway..

*yay* post exam holidays!! 3 months of nothingness..and im loving it!! sorry i havent really been posting!! its been so awesome! wee...
no exams, just hanging out cuz people have all left college and gone back home..like to queensland, places all over nsw...whoop whoop..in otherwords are very far away from me :(
so basically we had to make the most of it. went to the beach which was very very nice.
we also had a road trip up to guyra for a friend's 21st birthday party which was extremely cool!
a group of 4 went up a day earlier so that we could go via coffs harbour! and omg omg i got to visit the big banana!! it wasnt as big as i thought it would be but it was still ver very awesome!!!
anyways, i got to go to a rural amusement park for my friend's 21st :P we played putt putt and went on a MASSIVE SLIDE and also a little roller coaster which nearly bounced me out :P lol. and water slides! haha..very very cool.
had a fantastic bon fire back at his property. it was so warm..toasted some marshmellows *yay*
spent the night in a woolshed ..which was awesome (and even better when i was sleeping in a swag cuz it was very very cold :[ ) oh well..
i even tried real golf..lets just say i didnt have to go very far to find the balls..
anyways, sorry for the short update. i'd be here for a very long time if i typed evrything that happened.

man does it feel good to finish all your exams :)

i've been free since friday 10.45 and its been awesome. its so weird how some people still have to keep studying. its normally the other day around..like engineers are crazily working hard and the arts students are barely at uni (no offence) so im really taking advantage of this no uni thing. :) *yay*

we've been to the fish markets, ice skating, outlet shopping, the newtown street festival...

and we dont have to keep track of the days or anything. its just wake up and do whatever you feel like, and let me tell you, i could definately get used to three months of this :)

i learnt something these holidays. never go shopping with guys..its was a very weird experience going shopping with 3 other guys (me being the only girl there..since well, im the only female engineer in college so most other people still have exams). anyways, they just go straight in and straight back out again and im like what?? youve finished?? and then i have to wait cuz they all want to go to the guys shops and there wasnt anyone to go to the girls shops with me. lol..it was a very interesting experience. fun..but let's just say i think i'll take a girl next time..

we tried making vodka jelly too..

jonno wanted to try it with this "awesome" indonesian jelly that set at room temperature..that came in packets of powder..*hmm*..but it was pretty cool since it was like setting even when ben was mixing it..but then it just kinda turned goopy and weird..it tasted weird too..

the aeroplane jelly turned out much much better and not so goopy.. good ol'aeroplane jelly..aeroplane jelly for meeeee!!! haha..

here's to the awesome jelly making team!!! *yay*

and something else i learnt these holidays, never play chasey on ice skates..

poor tom had to get stitches..

oops..so unless you guys want stiches too, be very very careful. but that was heaps of fun..i hadnt been ice skating for like a year i reckon..and i must admit the first word out of my mouth when i stepped onto the ring wasnt a very nice word..>.<" but that was as close to falling over as i got which was good..

we're just trying to pack as many activities as we can before everyone has to go back home (this sunday)..
for once i actually cant wait til the summer holidays are over so we can start all the crazy stuff again..

lack of posts are due to the fact that it's exam week and i am actually studying :P haha..
well.. kinda "miminal" procrastinating

anyways, i've started being 'more' fit this stuvac..
and ive been swimming every day this week (since sunday) except twice cuz there was waterpolo so they closed lap swimming ..*GRrrr*
so i ran a couple of laps around uni :) *yay*

i can actually feel that i am getting fitter and im definately getting better sleep at night :)
and i even look forward to exercising now too ..
you guys should definately start exercising too, you feel heaps good afterwards ..and not so guilty when you eat a whole block of chocolate/bag of chips as "study food"..i hate it when i get the munchies when i study..

the only thing that's suffering by swimming lots is my hair.. chlorine and hair makes it stringy dry and stuff.. >.<"

well, ive seen resident evil 3 and evan almighty :)

i liked them :)

evan almighty...it's a comedy of biblical proportions.

i couldnt stop lauging in one scene of evan almighty, but then the rest of the movie was pretty ok. i like this one more than the first just cuz i'm not a huge fan of jim carrey, so im a little bias. but this one's also pretty cool. it's good if you feel like laughing, but dont expect too much :)

Evan Almighty is a 2007 comedy film, and sequel to the 2003 film Bruce Almighty.
Newly elected to congress, former local TV newsman Evan Baxter leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. i couldnt really remember what happened in the first 2 movies, and although it would've help knowing what had happened, it's not essential. it was alright. i think that they way it ends..there has to be a resident evil 4..or else i'd be like >.<"

Resident Evil: Extinction is a 2007 sci-fi action horror film, (says wiki) but i dont really think it's that horrifying. although i must admit i did scream. but that was cuz i had the sound on full blast and was about 10cm from the screen in a dark room all by myself when something jumped out (it was so not that scary!). but that's about it...

sorry guys, there wont be many updates in the next week or so cuz its the last week of first year uni!!! all the assignments and tests are this week so its going to be pretty intense! eek!!

but i cant believe how quickly this year has gone by..

it feels like a couple of months ago that i dressed up as B2 for our year 12 muck-up day, that i came back from leavers and that i was spending time in Perth with my friends just chilling...

it feels like a few weeks ago that i moved into college and started uni..

so much has happened to me in this year!

im finally 18 :P haha..
i moved interstate and into college
i started uni
i made heaps of new friends
i went from a girls' school into engineering
went to living with mum to living in college with 300 people

my lifestyle just flipped upside down! -.-" haha..and i must admit, im loving every minute of it. :)
better make the most of your life before another year goes by again..and who knows, in another 18 year's time life would be very different yet again.

until then, good luck for everyone's exams.
enjoy life..do remember exams arent everything..
try hard, dont regret anything

its been such a long week this week. everything's so hectic! so some friends and i decided to go to coogee beach to release some of our stress.. it was such a good idea..except for the minor detail that the beach was a little more windier than we thought it would be. however, that didnt stop us from having fun :) *yay* it was sunnny enough ..just sprint back to your towel afterwards :) it was such a nice day, and a very good idea..

i didnt call shotgun fast enough so i was squished up in the back :P hehe..it wasnt really that bad..

but thanks to jonno for driving us there..and to zuilly and ellie to also drove :)

eat a pub lunch out in the sun which was really nice and relaxing

before going out for a swim and touch/gridiron on the beach..so tiring..i dont like running in the sand.its so tiring! >.<" haha

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) — Alex, a parrot that could count to six, identify colors and even express frustration with repetitive scientific trials, has died after 30 years of helping researchers better understand the avian brain.

The cause of Alex's death was unknown. The African grey parrot's average life span is 50 years, Brandeis University scientist Irene Pepperberg said. Alex was discovered dead in his cage Friday, she said, but she waited to release the news until this week so grieving researchers could get over the shock and talk about it.

"It's devastating to lose an individual you've worked with pretty much every day for 30 years," Pepperberg told The Boston Globe. "Someone was working with him eight to 12 hours every day of his life."

Alex's advanced language and recognition skills revolutionized the understanding of the avian brain. After Pepperberg bought Alex from an animal shop in 1973, the parrot learned enough English to identify 50 objects, seven colors and five shapes. He could count up to six, including zero, was able to express desires, including his frustration with the repetitive research.

He also occasionally instructed two other parrots at the lab to "talk better" if they mumbled, though it wasn't clear whether he was simply mimicking researchers.

Alex hadn't reached his full cognitive potential and was demonstrating the ability to take distinct sounds from words he knew and combine them to form new words, Pepperberg said. Just last month, he pronounced the word "seven" for the first time.

The last time Pepperberg saw Alex was Thursday, she said. They went through their back-and-forth goodnight routine, which always varied slightly and in which she told him it was time to go in the cage.

She recalls the bird said: "You be good. I love you." She responded, "I love you, too." The bird said, "You'll be in tomorrow," and she responded, "Yes, I'll be in tomorrow."

its been a long time since i've blogged..so much has happened in that time..
IM FINALLY EIGHTEEN :) haha..
thanks to all my friends who spent my birthday with me and also those who thought of me. miss you!! :)

but what was really cool was that on my birthday, my 3 hour workshop was cancelled which meant that i only had one hour of classes on my birthday :) *yay*..not that i could concentrate through it or anything.
it was a really nice day, so nice infact that we went to the beach. went for a nice swim, a picnic on the beach. just good ol fun on the beach..
came home to wash all the sand out from well..EVERYWHERE..

went out to thai for dinner with drews ppl..much better than college food i must admit. went to kuletos' cocktail bar. *yummy* its a lil cocktail place on king street in newtown so if anyone's in sydney looking for nice drinks (happy hour's from 6 til 7.30) that's the place to go.

also had the VD (victory dinner) which was a very loose night. lots of music, dancing and partying (and falling <--mostly me) in general. definately a good way to spend the 2nd day of being eighteen :P hehe..

my parents came down to see me for my birthday which was AWESOME...thank you guys!!! it was so good just to catch up with them. went to the fish markets..and ate til well..i practically had to be rolled out of there :P shopping, the rocks, pancakes on the rocks (they're open 24/7 and have the best pancakes and also their ribs and delicious too!). of course dad also had his first krispy kreme. :P teehee..

been helping the drama committee with props and stuff so i've also been spending much of my weekend painting backdrops and going on trips to bunnings and stuff..dont talk to me about bricks..*grr* i dont want anything to do with painting bricks onto a canvas..eek.. (dont look at me like that..they werent just rectangles..there was shading involved and everything..on 4 massive canvases that were at least twice as big as me..) GRR... haha

anyways, must go back to work since i havent done that much this weekend..

just letting you guys know that im still alive :P

wow..its been such gorgeous weather ever since i got back..im loving it. its like lovely warm spring days..nice summer dress weather :) *ahh...* lol..

we went to the chocolate shop, (not max brenner) and the nicest icecream sandwich ever.. spent an afternoon at the beach swimming, having ice cream and fish and chips.. and just enjoying the sun..

except today...i spent the whole day today at home, stuck in my room doing a stupid aero assignment..i always seem to get stuck doing so much work for this subject..i cant believe its due back on the first day after the holidays..that's not very nice :P lol..

but its been a very nice "study break" week.. definately well needed, and now im all ready to face uni again..

if you loved the first two, the third one is still just as good.. and that's rare for sequals nowdays, and even more rare for trilogies...
it was seriously such a good movie.. i was laughing all the way through *yay* i must admit, rush hour is one of my favourite trilogies.. i cant stress how funny they are! lol

went on a little road trip to orange for the past few days. no work whatsoever..a well deserved break..or else i'd go mental..or more so than normal anyways :P haha..
load up the car and drove for 4 hours or so...

*go car go* ..hehe..

went for a massive hike and visited the glow worm tunnels. stupid hills...so steep! lol..but once we got there, they were so pretty!! it was like being surrounded by stars! :) unfortunately i couldnt take a photo of that..but it was SO cool!!!

i even had one of those backpack water pack things..for lazy people who dont need to stop to drink but can just drink from a tube that comes straight from the water in your pack. lol..

orange is so beautiful! its a very nice town..i was very lucky that there was such nice weather when i went there..

blue mountains

i was a tourist today :) :) ..a camera happy asian..
went up to the blue mountains with ben who'd been there heaps of times and was like a personal tour guide (thank you!!!) :P haha..it was like a mini-road trip :)
did a few walking tracks around the three sisters and through the grand canyon.. it was so beautiful!! and it was such a gorgeous day today *yay* so happy..

there were quite a few people at katoomba (main city in blue mountains) today..i guess the weather was really awesome. couldnt have asked for a better day.

lucky we had a map and signs or else who knows where we could have ended up >.<" but its kinda hard to get lost..its well signed :)

had rosey cheeks by the time we finished our walk. there were so many steep descents/ascents..gah.. but it was such good exercise :) im so ready for bed now..

but i cant, ive got to do an assignment that's due tomorrow..(IN THE HOLIDAYS!) thats so mean. but you hand it in over the internet so you dont actually have to go to uni itself...still..

bowling/bondi

what an awesome day it was today..
spent the first half of the day doing a very annoying computer engineering assignment (grr), but then in the afternoon, decided just to go out cuz it was the holidays and i needed a break.
so some drew's people and i decided to go tenpin bowling!! :P teehee..thanks for driving us there ben!! (you're awesome =] )

i was dreadful at it today, balls just went everywhere..did a few dulys too (ball going into the gutter refering to duly who kinda sucked in the first game..teehee.. we still love you..) its ok..it was lots of fun :P

the only annoying thing is that i have an assignment due on the monday of the holidays (handed in over the internet) and an assignment due on the first day back so that's really really annoying.

but the first few days are just going to be a well needed break that i am taking for myself :) i deserve it :P just a few more weeks of uni, then i'll have finished first year uni. how scary is that?!

im loving animated movies at the moment..
the latest i've seen is SURF'S UP..its a movie about surfing penguins!! how cool is that? it made me miss the beach tho *sniff* :P but it was an awesome feel-good movie, and it was quite funny too.. so if you have the chance, why not watch it :) ..maybe wait til the dvd comes out tho :P

paintball

yesterday, the college people and i went paintballing!!! how cool is that? its something that i've always wanted to do. its kinda pricey, but it was definately worth it. it was optional, so there was a list where you could sign up if you wanted to play. all together there were about 40 or so people in our group. luckily we didnt have to play against other people that were there cuz our group was big enough :)
we woke up bright and early and left college around 6.30 am..i cannot stress how early that is for me!! anyways, we got there at about 8am so that we could have a whole day ahead of us just for paintball. after all the registration was completed, we went to our very first course. we had unlimited lives in this one but let me tell you, the first paintball that hit me was probably the most painful. >.<" *ouch*
it was from like 5m away and i couldnt really see him (cuz he was on the other side of the thing i was hiding behind (and in a trench too..which i wasnt in) so when he shot it was kinda unexpected and from really close...lets just say i have a really cool bruise to show for it :P ..actually i have a few bruises to show from yesterday :P
but each course had different objectives so you wouldnt get bored of the game, which is really cool.
when it was all over, we got back to college around 3ish. there was a fair on the road just in front of college (for the hospital next door) and so we visited the stalls (still kinda smelly and with paint all through my hair) :P teehee..
i think i had something from every food stall :P lol..well, not the popcorn/fairy floss shop..but i was very tempted to ..
all in all it was an awesome day yesterday, except im paying for it now. my muscles and bruises are so sore today :(
dispite that, i would deftinately do it again..it was awesome!

ratatouille is an awesome movie. it is definately the cutest rat movie ever!! lol..it was a good movie. i was certainly laughing for a lot of the bits :P.. i give it 3.5 stars out of five :)

The Chicago Sun-Times tells the story of Erasmo Palacios, who, after dropping off his six-year-old daughter at school, was with his wife Rocio and their 22-year-old daughter, all on their way to breakfast when they saw a woman waving her arms. Thinking she was in distress, they approached her in the car, at which point...

...the woman approached their car, parked outside Manolos restaurant, leaned in to the passenger side where Rocio was sitting and asked Erasmo if he wanted oral sex for $20 or sex for $25.

The couple laughed, realizing this wasnt a woman in distress after all.
But within seconds, Chicago police swarmed the family car, hauling Erasmo Palacios out in handcuffs. He was charged with solicitation of a prostitute.

His daughter, who had just run in to exchange her coffee for a hot chocolate, screamed, while his wife cried in fear.

Eight hours later, Palacios, who has no criminal record, was released from custody. And weeks later, charges against him were dropped.

The police report improbably charged that Palacios solicited sex from the undercover officer, even as his wife sat in the passenger seat, and his daughter was on her way out from getting a beverage. Makes you wonder how many men have been wrongfully arrested for solicitation who didn't have their wives and daughters nearby to vouch for them. Also makes those websites cities put up posting mugshots of suspected (not convicted) johns all the more invidious.

The punchline: Though the charges were dropped, the city seized the family's car under laws allowing the forfeiture of automobiles used in the solicitation of prostitutes. The city won't return the car until the Palacios pay $4,700 in towing and storage fees.

fun long weekend

how awesome was this long weekend??? (long weekend in metropolitan sydney area due to APEC) *yay* was looking forward to it for ages cuz uni's been so hectic :) but here's what has happened..

friday night: formal

this night was awesome!! just hanging out with friends and dressing up all nicely and everything. stupid high heels gave me sore feet by the end of the night..grr.. but i couldnt wear sneakers or anything cuz it wasnt a floor length skirt or anything :P teehee..i was comtemplating it. music was pumping throughout the night and there was the nicest dinner..there was a choice between steak or smoked salmon for the main course..and there was the nicest cakes for dessert..and chocolate hearts and coins scattered allon the tables :P it was cute. i think we were the only table that finished all the chocolate ..we even stole some from other tables. keke... here are some photos :)

saturday: recovery

there was a lil recovery event type thing organised but it was raining so it didnt go too well..there was a BBQ for lunch *yummy* a giant twister game (but it rained..) and also a jumping castle!!! (i really wanted to go on it but then it started to pour..grr..) it was a pretty slow day..very relaxing

saturday night: jaqui's 21st birthday party

it was an 80s themed party and the first thing i thought of was..fluro gym wear.. lol..

sexy right? :P it was at her surf life saving club so we had 3 designated drivers :P (thank you so much guys!!!) and partied the night away...there were people wearing ghost busters costumes, or just really bad clothing.. the rugby was on too (aust vs japan) so we got to watch a bit of that. sushi (and some other foods) was served!! *yummy* so i was very happy..teehee..

they had glowsticks :P *yay*i think they're pretty cool =)

lunar eclipse

it was a total lunar eclipse last night..
i'd never seen one before!
it made the moon turn red!! how cool is that??!! just lying on the grass watching the earth's shadow pass over the moon, slowing turning it red..
what a way to de-stress after a long day at uni..
apparently the next one wont be until 2011. i feel very lucky to have seen it..*yay*

the weekend was so awesome!! :)

sarah came to visit from perth so it was really good to catch up. we went to max brenner and also got some krispy kremes *yay* they were so yummy..

we went there on friday night but it was closed, so we went there on saturday after visiting the glebe markets. the clothes there were so cute! i bought the cutest jumper ever! i was going to wear it to uni today, but it was a lovely 27 degrees today (such a nice day).

we had dinner in chinatown. man my tummy was very very happy..

so full tho, but so good.. keke..

the only down bit was that it decided to start pouring with rain and neither of us had umbrellas..so taht was kinda interesting..

it was heaps fun!!

and sunday was fresher day out. so it was just the first years on shark island partying the day away. it was also ben's birthday on sunday so that meant we had to party extra hard just for him :) ..but not too hard, since i had a maths test today. it was such a nice day. the weather warmed up (which was great considering friday's weather). no worries, just having fun in the sun with friends. *ahhh*
on the way there...

swim out to the lighthouse.. some people even jumped off from the top!!
look how nice the island is!!..one hectare pretty much all to ourselves
it was so much fun!!!but unfortunately, the day must end..and we gota come back to reality :(

you know what i found out today?..

that if tuna fish stop swimming, they'll suffocate.. lol
interesting fact..

just imagine what the world will be like if we suffocate if we stop walking/moving.
we'd always have to walk around, in circles during class..with half our brian still 'on' when we sleep. that half a brain is responsible for keeping you aware of your surroundings, so you dont wake up in the middle of no where or walk into poles...
if that were me, i'd be less aware when i was awake!! thats not fair! i still walk into poles. *sniff*
although it has been a while since i last walked into a pole. maybe i'm improving. lol.

that would be such a weird world. you'd never stop moving. you'd never be able to just stop and appreciate life. you couldnt just stop to look at a view...
i like the way i am now :) haha..

ive had quite a busy past few days so i apologies for the lack of posts..
hope you like the new layout :)

anyways,
on thursday it was a chistmas in july dinner (except we were on holidays so they decided to have it in august instead)...its cuz we arent together during xmas so they thought they'd make it special. it was the nicest dinner ever. like with prawns and xmas pudding and turkey and everything...like christmas crackers (like the ones you pull apart and go *crack* and have jokes and hats and stuff inside) AND candy canes lol.
forgetting that it was the special dinner, i agreed that i'd work (like serving dinner) that night. *sniff* so i didnt get to eat all the nice stuff..i just had normal dinner..
but the good thing is that since there was so much to do, we got paid time-and-a-half plus i got a bottle of wine too :) and lots of spare candy canes :P teehee..and pudding too (the leftovers) haha..but there werent any prawns left :(

and also..
yesterday, i was having a chat to a small group (there were 4 of us) of people about the palladian cup (arts intercol competition) outside just in the hallway, cuz we just walked past each other..
anyways, a meeting with some important people had just finished so the secretary of drew's was like there's some alcohol in that room that hasnt been finished and also some food if that's of any interest to you...just dont open anything that isnt open already..
so we sat there having our "meeting" and eating passionfruit, mangoes, strawberries..cheese and crackers, chocolate and drinking orange juice, wine and port :) i even got to take half a bottle of port with me :) *yay* free alcohol..
i love being at the right place at the right time. no one else was allowed to come :) and we had to lock up before we left. but it was so yummy.

basically this is another typical die hard movie. things get blown up..in a spectacular way of course :P cars are driven into all sorts of things and McClane even jumps onto a plane..from a falling truck..hmm..
but its very eventful. i guess if you liked the others, you'd most probably like this one too. its kinda predictable..but its good all the same. there are laughs in there too..it adds to the comic relief of things just blowing up.

its starts with an attempted security breach on an FBI facility system is successful, and computer hackers are assassinated by the terrorist mastermind Thomas Gabriel instead of being paid for their collaboration. The FBI, unaware of the killings, dispatches NYPD detective John McClane (bruce willis) to visit a known hacker, Matthew Farrell, as part of their investigation regarding the breach. Gabriel's henchmen attempt to assassinate McClane and Farrell, but their targets escape. McClane transports Farrell to the FBI's Washington DC headquarters and its head, Assistant Director Bowman, in the midst of a shutdown of the traffic system in DC. .... :P and i guess you'll just have to see the movie to find out more

just a random post for the weird things that caught my attention this week...

1) i walked into my maths tutorial to find my maths tutor wearing ...

a Shakespearean outfit!! >.<"

it was the most random thing ever.. there were frills and feathers and everything! he assured us that it was for the play that he was part of, but im not so sure about that..those maths guys are a lil weird :P teehee jokes...

2) oh oh..and during the aero workshop we applied 'rubber grease'!! haha..it was RED! i never knew there was red grease. :P someone wrote 'sex god' in red grease on our tutor's back.. teehee poor guy has to put up with us..

3) glebe markets is a very cool place to go if you're after clothes.. its medium priced but the tops and everything are really cute!! i saw lego earings too!! they were the coolest thing ever but im not sure if i would wear them out alot.. i mean lego pieces are quite big for earings :P teehee..

4) i still cant get over the fish markets..i went there today and ate so much for breakfast that we were still there for an early lunch..so we turned it into brunch and walked all the way back to college :P

5) everyone in sydney is sick..gah..i got a lil sick.like sore throat and stuff, but im fine now..so take care if you're in sydney :P

all in all, its been such a laid back day today. the sun was out..and the weather was so nice.
i even got to see eels in the uni lake. how cool is that..
and also the swan there stalks you1!! its so creepy.. its probably cuz it thinks that you have food..but still.. it follows you around..

anyways, enough of my random incoherent thoughts...
maybe i'll make more sense next week :P

it seems things have really gone back to normal...
you may ask why i say this..
basically, im really amazed at how well my body clock works. :Pi have 10am, 9am and 8am starts on 5 days a week. so everyday, i will set my alarm to wake me up at different times. and yet, each day i wake up a few minutes before my alarm on my phone goes off.. its really creepy.
like today for example, i woke up at 6.58am..the alarm was set to 7am...whats really creepy is that its happened on multiple occasions...practically everyday.
once i even reached for my phone to see what time it was and then as soon as i saw the time, the alarm went off in my hands. how creepy is that?! lol

anyway, i thought that was interesting.
life is pretty much very normal now... cant wait til the weekend tho :)

and happy fathers day (in taiwan)..teehee

its been a while since i've posted. i guess as with all bloggers, i just wasnt 'in the mood'. yes, i have blogger's block. hmm
so lately its all been pretty much the same as before.
a new semester has started. however, there are few differences between this semester and last semester.
1) i am enjoying myself more cuz the subjects are fun-er
2) i know more people so its much more fun than being a loner :P
3) i have settled into uni life so its not 'strange' anymore
*4) i only have two exams at the end of this semester :) :) :) :) *yay*

*this one's my favourite :P

haha..yes..only 2 exams. and their both for maths.. :) how cool is that? i can handle maths. i dont have to murder any more computers.

o0h speeking of computers, what kinda annoys me is that for one of my subjects we're doing Matlab again. (kinda like a graphics calculator except you have to write your own programs each time) and i had to do that last semester. however, half the class has never done it before and the other half (me included) are so bored out of our brains cuz its like wk 1 semester 1 all over again..grr..
apparently we're meant to learn some new stuff in a few weeks time, but til then.. *sigh*

the simpsons movie

omg!!! i love this movie. i had my doubts and was scared that they would complete ruin the simpsons movie, but i enjoyed it :) was laughing most of the way..

i got to see it on thursday before anyone got to ruin it for me *yay*

and i recommend that if you like the simpsons, you should watch the movie.

things are back to normal again. as soon as i heard the thumping down the corridors, the banging of doors and the screams i knew that everything was back to normal agian, and suprisingly im quite calmed by those loud repetitive noises. :P i guess it just means that everyone's back and things and going to get interesting again. there's never a dull moment in college :P

back to uni on monday, that was quite a good day.
first class was at 10am so thats pretty late to me, considering that's the latest start for me for both this semester and the last >.<" but i got to the lecture hall, got ready for AMME1060 and met a few of my friends when the lecturer came in. first slide of the day read: ELEC2304..
im thinking thats second year electrical engg..i dont even to elec.. someone asked the lecturer where he was meant to be and the lecturer announces to the whole class that if you're not in that class, you should go..so..the whole class (over 100) got up and left :P teehee..the poor lecturer was left just standing at the front of the lecture hall with no one in the seats :P teehee...
but the point of the story is that she was in the wrong room and that students are cool!! haha..

plus on monday i got to finish an hour early cuz i did all the work for a 2 hour tute in 1 hour :) this ones the easy one..revision of year 12..then its going to get interesting.. O.o

back at college again

im back at college again. and i must admit, i really happy that im back again. its my home since nearly everything i own is here.. and im really liking sydney too; but thats not to say that perth isnt my home either. its where i grew up so a part of me will always be perthian.. :P

sydney weather is not as bad as i thought it would be. at this precise moment im even feeling really hot :P *yay* that means i have enough clothes and i dont need to go shopping anymore! haha..thats a first since i felt cold many times last semester..lol

i have my bandaid on my left index finger and its so annoying!! gah..so many mis-types..grRR

anyways, now that ive gotten that off my chest..
i cant wait til everyone else is back in college :) right now its kinda empty but im glad that some of my friends are back too..

oh..and ive started watching bleach..hmm
is that such a good idea since uni starts monday?.. i dont thnk i can finish them all by then o.O

i had a good holiday, it was needed and very relaxing. i feel ready to take on uni again :P

man i love this place!! its awesome..its so nice. blue skies lovely beaches..and its in the middle of winter!! i cant believe it
i really do not want to go back to sydney..i dont want uni to start again!! im loving these holidays too much! gah..
i went to dreamworld yesterday! its was pretty cool. although i couldnt get mum to go on a ride with me, it was still lots and lots of fun :) took enough pictures to make my camera run out of batteries..but then again i hadnt charged it in a few days
yesterday i heard on the news that sydney's maximum temp was 13 degrees..but with the wind factored in..it will feel more like 7 degrees..thats not good. i hate cold..i dislike winter very much. i wonder how im going to cope? i think im going to need a ski jacket..
and some thermals..
and lots and lots of layers..
i dont want to gooooo!!!

anyways, thats my update so far...good bye gold coast..its back home by tomorrow night :(

im off to the gold coast today..saying farewell to good ol brissie :)
its been so nice here these past few days! blue skies, warm days...
shopping. things are much cheaper here than in sydney..no fair! lol

mum and i went to the rainforest yesterday. can you believe there's one thats so close to brissie? its really nice and calming. and you can notice a massive change from suburbia to the rainforest. its like packed houses one minute, then something like kings park in perth, then lush plants, then rainforest! and its so much cooler (like temperature wise) in the rainforest as well..
and its also very cool (like awesome-wise :P) keke

we also saw harry potter..2 days after most people. i cant believe so many people i know have already seen that movie. its only been out for like 3 days!! wow. the book release is also coming up..i guess maybe its time for me to read that 6th book..hmm..i still havent read it >.<" hehe..

anyways..gold coast time. :) im very excited...but that also means that i nearly have to go back to sydney and uni starts again. i just wana see my friends..not start doing work again..*sigh*
and sydney's so cold!! grr..well, i'll just have to enjoy the warm weather while i can.

I JUMPED OUT OF A PLANE!!!

Hehe..it was the most coolest thing ever!!!! omg omg omg omg!! i cant believe i actually went skydiving!! how cool is that@!!! :) *yay* it was so cool!!
so yea, quick update..
its been quiet lately on dee's blog cuz ive been in queensland without internet o.O yes, that's right..NO INTERNET lol..but its been awesome. its so nice and warm..its just like a cool summer!!! like clear blue skies, nice beaches..just very nice in general. its so relaxing :)

i bumped into ellie (my friend from college) lol..i was like you're in the wrong state..and she was like..well, you're on the wrong side of the country.. >.<" lol..she won that one..but one day.. one day! lol and of course hte skydiving!! my very early 18th bday present from my parents :P it wasnt scary!! and i was the first one out the plane so i dont really know what it looks like. apparently that's the worst part; watching the first person jump out of hte plane. its so cool!! i cant get over it :P but the air is much thinner...and it was freezing!! and my ears hurt from the pressure.. lol enough complaining..cuz it was hte coolest thing ever! i went from 14000ft (4 miles) and apparently you're meant to get 65 seconds of freefall at terminal velocity (~200km/h)...well, let me tell you..that was the fastest minute of my life! lol..i would definately do it again.. it was the bestest feeling ever :) and i will leave on that note :)

it was so cool cuz we went to the fish markets for breakfast..
well..technically brunch cuz it was kinda late by the time we got there and we didnt end up having lunch cuz we were so full from breakfast..
anyways..i had the biggest breakfast i ever had in my life..and it was FANTASTIC :P hehe..
fresh seafood at a relatively cheap price...*drools* it was so good..
then we went shopping in paddington :P
and max brenner chocolate shop *more drool* i love that place. i didnt know there was one in paddington so i was very very happily surprised.
and we had thai pothong for dinner...*ahh* best day ever. so much good food!!! man im drooling now just thinking about it...
keke..anyways..i can see a krispy kreme shop from here and its calling my name :P teehee..

omg i cant believe that its nearly time for me to leave perth again..
and i just got here!! :( time has definately flown by way too quickly. it feels weird being back home cuz in a way it feels like nothing has changed. in reality, i know that that's probably far from true, but in my world, everyone's still the same.
i dont know if its cuz i havent been home and everyone's just like yay dee's home and so they act like they had the last time they saw me..which might be different to the way they act nowadays or if they genuinely havent really changed that much. i dont know if that makes sense.

i know people change and stuff..but do can they really change that much in such a short span? and if they can, what will they be like the next time i come back? i guess memories are just memories...i think i should just remember the good things that have happened and know that i have always got friends in perth. we may not always be as good friends as we were, but we share at least one thing in common..our childhood memories.

but it was definately good catching up with everyone :)
hopefully i've already seen you or will soon cuz i miss you guys!!!

hey guys, sorry i havent been updating lately. its the holidays so ive been quite busy enjoying myself and not having to worry about work and exams or anything of that nature. and let me tell you, IT FEELS FANTASTIC...you guys probably already know this since usyd finished a week after most wa unis..and like 2 weeks after murdoch (grrRR!!) but i still cant get over it! its like the summer holidays..in winter!! :) lol..we never had this in year 12, there was always work to be done :) *yay*

so an update:

and so here's what i thought of the transformers movie:

directed by michael bay, the transformers movie is definately a boy movie :P do you remember those good old days when you were a kid and you used to run home to watch the transformers change into cool cars and other stuff??..cuz if you do, this is so the movie for you :)

in this movie, high-school student Sam Witwicky buys his first car, who is actually the Autobot Bumblebee. Bumblebee defends Sam and his girlfriend Mikaela Banes from the Decepticon Barricade, before the other Autobots arrive on Earth. They are searching for the Allspark, and the war on Earth heats up as the Decepticons attack a United States military base in Qatar. in my opinion, its better than the second but its still not as good as the first..
its quite a smart movie, with laughs scattered throughout the movie.

The last time we saw Danny Ocean's crew, they were paying back ruthless casino mogul Terry Benedict after stealing millions from him. However, it's been a while since they've come back together, which is all about to change. When one of their own, Reuben Tishkoff builds a hotel with known casino owner Willy Banks, the last thing he ever wanted was to get cut out of the deal personally by the loathsome Banks. Banks' attitude even goes so far as to finding the amusement in Tishkoff's misfortune when the double crossing lands Reuben in the hospital because of a heart attack. However, Danny and his crew won't stand for Banks and what he's done to a friend. Uniting with their old enemy Benedict, who himself has a vendetta against Banks, the crew is out to pull off a major plan. *yay*yesterday was a good day..well most of yesterday. started off with a maths exam but i thought that went alright..it wasnt too bad, but that means that my next exam isnt til tuesday which gives me plenty of time to study. :)

came back, procrastinated until lunch time, ate and had a 'death note' marathon with a friend. first we watched the first movie, before watching a few episodes of the anime.

then later in the evening, i met up with pat and kathy (PERTH FRIENDS!!!) how cool! kathy was in sydney for the week and pat lives in the college across from me..so it was like a small reunion. it was soo cool!! it was good just to catch up.
plus we went to max brenner *yay* best chocolate cafe ever!!! lucky it was still open at night..did a bit of shopping before heading back home.

then i procrastinated even more by chatting with friends until it was bed time.

no study done today and it felt fantastic..so now the next five days will be full of work. my brain should be able to handle it since ive had a good break. lol..must look after my brain :P its what passes my exams for me :)

THE NSW State Emergency Service has urged residents in coastal NSW to take extreme care during storm conditions forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

Emergency services along the Eastern coast of NSW are bracing themselves for the worst tonight with a cyclone in the Tasman Sea expected to pass close to land from midnight.

Winds in excess of 100 kilometres an hour are predicted to scour the coast between the Hunter Valley and the Illawarra, easily powerful enough to cause widespread property damage.

A spokesman for the State Emergency Service said the organisation had around 500 people on standby along a stretch of coast ranging over a few hundred kilometres.

"We're just basically watching the whole of the South Coast. We've got no feeling for this whatsoever, so we'll be up all night watching what is happening. Really we can't react until we know what we are reacting to," he said.

Mike de Salis, of the Bureau of Meteorology said exposed areas of the coast, such as Ulladulla and south east Sydney, would bear the brunt of the storm, which is expected only to dissipate after midday tomorrow.

"The actual weather system itself is not going to come on shore but will stay in the Tasman. Its effects will be very clearly felt," he said.

The SES advises people to stay indoors and away from windows during the storm.

People who must be outside are warned to keep clear of fallen trees and power lines, never walk or drive through floodwater, and stay clear of creeks, storm drains, culverts and causeways.

The storm also will make beaches dangerous, and people are warned to stay out of the sea and any areas exposed to surf.

The SES is advising residents to prepare for the storm by securing or putting away any loose items around their homes, and moving vehicles under cover and away from trees.

Boat owners should ensure their vessels are properly secured.

Both the weather bureau and the SES are advising people to listen to radio stations for weather warnings and updates, which will be issued regularly today.

just finished my first exam yesterday. one down two more to go..
i was having a minor heart attack when everyone had their notes out just before an exam and i didnt..but apart from that, everything went quite alright.. as good as an exam could go i guess
i hate it when exams are in the afternoon.. that day i looked over my notes for a little while (just to make myself feel better), did my laundry, watched many simpsons episodes before going to the exam. i was very glad that i found the right exam room too :) *yay*
afterwards, a few of my friends and i went to chinatown for dinner..for a "study break". lol. and boy was the food good. it made me feel much much better. walked back to college, watched hannibal and enemy at the gates before going to bed. wat a good night.
and now, i;ll be studying more maths..gah...nearly over..this time next week is going to be awesome..

its pretty much what you would expect fom a comedy with will farrel in it :P its pretty funny :P i liked it..i was laughing through it, but then again i have a 'unique' sense of humour. however, in my defence i'd like to point out that the people i was watching it with were also laughing so its a movie that most people would find funny. its good for those of you with lots of stress from exams and studying. take a break, watch a movie :P but by the time it comes out, most of you guys would have finished all your exams..*sigh* lucky. i would still have 1 more..anyways, point of the post is that its a good comedy.

i told myself that i wasnt going to do any work this weekend. it was time that i took a break before study since ive been doing so many assignments and study this week. if not, i reckon my poor little brain wouldnt be able to cope and just blow up :P lol..maybe not, but close enough
saturday was DIM SUM!!! it was so good.i hadnt gone yum cha in such a long time. must savour each taste :P keke..i went with my chinese engg friends. and we were speaking in english, manderin and cantonese. at least i get to learn new things as well as practise my limited chinese :P some of their english isnt fantastic either so we're all learning from each other :P how cool!! and i also learnt that it is possible to eat jelly with chopsticks :P lol..interesting fact ay? haha
it was really bad weather again so we decided to go to my friends house..where we played cards! lol. very azn.. we even played snap. there was this one had where we snapped and when we lifted our hands up,there was blood..my fingernails had cut someone's hand O.o i was so sorry!! (my nails werent even long!) but yea..we stopped playing snap after that..

went to fish market on sunday for lunch. it was SO NICE!!! all the seafood there was so fresh and so yummy. i really cant stress how yummy i thought it tasted. lol. but there were so many people there. the fish markets have a really good reputation; so if anyone ever comes to sydney, GO TO THE FISH MARKETS!!!! you wont regret it :) *drools*

no more uni..for this semester..

wow..how quickly has the time gone? no more uni this semester. thats scary. i can still remember the first day uni started. i didnt know anyone! omg!
lol..thursday night was awesome. it was the engineering end of semester party. FREE SAUSAGE SIZZLE :P
it was a good night. met some new friends, got to know existing ones better. the only bad thing was that it was a thursday night. >.<"
got back to college afterwards and went straight back to bed.
woke up just in time for my 8am lecture. i was determined to go to every lecture on the last day lol.
friday was just horrible. it was pouring down with rain and i had broken my umbrella. O.o *sigh* it seems like lots of people's umbrellas have been braking lately. stupid wind and rain and stormy weather. anyways, me and 2 other guys had to get to class but it was drizzeling so we thought we could quickly get to class before it started pouring..we were very wrong. about half way there it started pouring down heavily. and by the time we got to class the other guys were like, 'lol maybe next time it'll be a good idea to take your clothes off before you go swimming..' har har har. cold wet clothes of a lecture..not good.
and obviously our lecturer thought it would be a good day to give us another surprise test. fantastic..
afterwards another SAUSAGE SIZZLE :) (for our aero class) it was very very good. there was a paper plane project/competition that we had to do. the aim was to hit the target with a paper plane that was launched with a rubber band. you only had to hit it once and we were given three tries..

just a quick update from me to let you all know that im still alive and kicking (but just bearly). i have been buried by an avalanche of work..some of which is meant to be group work but im very annoyed at how some people arent doing their bit.
i cant wait til the study break. i can finally catch up with everything. hopefully i will do alright.
just want to wish all those people with exams coming up all the best of luck. work hard and you'll ace them :)
semester 1 is nearly over! how fast has it gone. i seriously can still remember walking into uni on the first day thinking..well.. basically "?????". i cant believe we've already learnt so much.
guess i have to take it all in and enjoy it. life goes by so fast, there's no time to feel down when there's so much to do and so little time. work hard, play hard. :)

wednesday night was awesome. it was the finals for intercollege rugby, and our team was playing against wesley. (pat goes to wesley :P) i went abit camera happy that night and took about 170 photos..some of which i dont remember taking. but cheering and just being silly was just awesome. said hey to pat and somehow during the night i ended up on the wesley stands too..hmm..interesting. but i found my way back to drews and watched from the front of the sidelines... *yay* GO DREWS!!..

watched another movie :P

this movie is very similar to the first one. its got zombies running around trying to eat people, but the people keep running away...but there's a twist. the last part was like WOW. but yea, i wont ruin the story for anyone who wants to watch. :)
basically, at the start they've "sealed off" the secure part of london and people are moving back into the country...and so the story begins.
its an alright movie. i just needed to watch something to relieve stress..and stuff. gota have time for myself to enjoy life right?..anyways, i have to go now..wish me luck with my oral presentation..

guess what i saw last night??? *yay*

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END!!! :)

i was so excited on thursday. we had pre-booked the tickets off the internet so that we would definately have seats. it was a full cinema and the movie people even said that we weren't allowed to leave gaps between people cuz there wouldn't be enough seats for everyone. lucky we got there early! (like 30 mins before the movie started) there was seriously a massive line outside the cinema. then there were seriously 25 mins of trailers. i saw the transformers trailer!! lol.. i just saw the original movie a couple of weeks ago. lol..memories..
it was a good movie. im not going to give any spoilers or anything. it wasnt as good as the first one, but then again sequals never are. but i still enjoyed the movie. it was also quite a long movie so you'd better go to the toilet before cuz you wouldnt want to miss parts of the movie. and chow yun fat's in it!! lol..
anyways, there were happy bits, sad bits, lovey bits and action bits. good movie :)

this comment really made me stop and think. (note: im not sure if its because i got brainwashed from reading 'the last hours of ancient sunlight' by thom hartmann for our year 12 english course..hehe..just kidding)
but this topic has been on everyone's minds lately. especially with movies like 'the day after tomorrow' and 'the core' and even the documentary 'an inconvinient thruth' by al gore..
i guess we really dont live a sustainable lifestyle and this has come to bite us in the butt..lol

the other day i read that carcinigeons in the polluted air of china is one of the leading causes of death. many of china's top athletes cant compete in the olympics cuz their getting sick from constantly breathing polluted air. there's just a constant smog that's there.

in sydney too..not so much pollution, but there are people just smoking everywhere you go. i think im like a passive smoker now..its just so bad..im like walking behind someone and coughing away..
at times like these im missing perth. the air is so much clearer...it just feels so nice..
cant wait for a little detox when i go back :) time to give my poor lungs a break..im feeling very priviledged to have been able to grow up in such a nice place :) im just appreciating it now..

Mars starts using animal products

Some of the UK's best-selling chocolate bars, such as Mars and Twix, will no longer be suitable for vegetarians.
Also affecting brands such as Snickers and Maltesers, owner Masterfoods said it had started to use animal product rennet to make its chocolate products.
Masterfoods said the change was due to it switching the sourcing of its ingredients and the admission was a "principled decision" on its part.
The Vegetarian Society said the company's move was "incomprehensible".
'Extremely disappointed'
Masterfoods said it had started using rennet from 1 May and non-affected products had a "best before date" up to 1 October.
Rennet, a chemical sourced from calves' stomachs, is used in the production of whey.
It will now also be found in Bounty, Minstrels and Milky Way products, and the ice cream versions of all Masterfoods' bars.
"If the customer is an extremely strict vegetarian, then we are sorry the products are no longer suitable, but a less strict vegetarian should enjoy our chocolate," said Paul Goalby, corporate affairs manager for Masterfoods.
The Vegetarian Society said it was "extremely disappointed".
"At a time when more and more consumers are concerned about the provenance of their food, Masterfoods' decision to use non-vegetarian whey is a backward step," it said in a statement.
"Mars products are very popular with young people and many will be shocked to discover that their manufacture now relies on the extraction of rennet from the stomach lining of young calves," it added.

red shield appeal

I did something good for the community : ) haha..i try :P since have no money to donate..i donated my time..
I woke up bright and early (that means before 9am for me..on a Sunday which is my only sleep-in day!!) to help the salvation army do their red shield appeal. Basically, groups of about 5 were assigned an area close-ish to uni (we had to drive about 5 mins to get there) where we went around door knocking and asking people for donations. At first it was kinda weird cuz it felt like saying “good morning..give me money!!” but most people were nice and they knew who the salvos were so we didn’t have to explain where the money went and everything. It was pretty cool. Then it kinda became a competition to see who could get the most money..lol..good ol’ college competitiveness..haha.. our group didn’t get the most, but it was still good fun.
And when we got back we were welcomed by an assortment of cakes and SCONES WITH JAM AND CREAM which tasted really really really really really nice.. :)

..only because i can actually do it and dont have to exert energy to physically beat the metal..the other reason being i finished before everyone else..normally im like one of the last ones >.<" ..the week before last i was the second last one cuz you had to chisel a corner off a bit of metal. theguys can do it but im seriously weak. i got about half way and the instructor took pity on me :P teehee..then he took pity on the other girl who'd chiselled away less than me..that was just gay.
but the lathe is soooo cool!!! haha..SO COOL!!! i just got abit coolant happy and sprayed abit all over me..at least im cool right? >.<"

anyways, we're using the lathe again next week. i'll probably find a way to stuff that up tho. its gone too well..ive probably jinxed myself or something by now...

stupid sydney weather!! it makes it impossible for me to make up my mind what to wear for a whole day at uni. its not like im going to get changed half way through the day..

let me explain my predicament..

sydney at 7.45 am (walking to 8am maths)

sydney at 10am (waiting for engg lecture)

in the space of three hours, its gone from quite cool to really hot. LOOK!! its all foggy and then its all hot and sunny. what on earth am i meant to wear?? lol..
and yes, im one of those lazy people who hate carrying their jumpers around..
most of the time i would rather boil to death (or at least wait til it gets unbearably hot) before i take my jumper off cuz i dont want to carry it :P
anyways..so far my solution has been long sleeve tops with shorts..
im thinking i want to buy some leggings or something too..
any ideas from you guys?

another movie review from me :P shooter (2007) starring mark wahlberg its a movie about how a marksman living in exile is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Ultimately double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he goes on the run to track the real killer and find out who exactly set him up, and why. its kinda like 24 in a way...he's being framed and they're threatening him with his girl instead of his family. but i thought it was a very good action movie..pretty exciting. kept me relatively intrigued throughout the duration of it :)

mothers day

aww, its that special day were we appreciate our mothers for the lovely people they are :P
it was the mother's day dinner last night. my mother wasnt there so i joined them for the afters :P keke..but just in that moment, seeing everyone with their mums, i felt a bit of homesickness and jealously..jealous of people who could go home when they felt like it and also that they could see their mums..*sigh* but the night was still good. its funny to see how much the mothers resemble their children..actually its more logical to say that the kids resemble their mothers...its quite interesting :P
but after a while, the mum's left for home..and it was just crazy college kids with free booze..is that a good thing? probably not..
but it was a good night, very enjoyable..
i tripped down a flight of stairs..these stairs consisted of three steps..how graceful..lucky not that many ppl saw..and i didnt make a huge noise like a thump sound or a scream :P teehee..

INTERCOLLEGE NETBALL

wow..last night was intense..
intercollege netball is brutal. if i were the players i dont think i could handle all the sledging! its hilarious!!! everyone gets really into it and its so much fun cheering for your team! GO DREWS! i dont think ive heard funnier cheers in all my life. but i cant remember them :(
we were versing wesley college (thats pat v's college)..both teams were undefeated going into the final..it was INTENSE!..but unfortunately..wowsers won..gRRR!! we'll get them back! i didnt take any photos :( ..*sniff* i didnt have a camera with me.
obviously i got absolutely no work done that night.
after netball, we came back to play some nintendo wii..and its not as easy as it looks!! i swear some ppl were just sitting in a chair flicking the little remotes (yes, they're the ppl with no life who spend their spare time in front of the tv screen playing the wii all day..) whereas i was furiously jumping up and down

<-----------this far------------> from the screen. boxing is so tiring..and i was literally just punching air!! and driving was even worse..i kept overcorrecting so the car just kept going in zig zags, running into the side of the road over and over again..*sigh* i guess wii's just not for me..but im not denying that its fun or anything..it just takes effort..gah..
i think i'll just stick to the conventional controllers..or the eye toy or something :P teehee..
